What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is a real job with training so apprentices can earn while they learn. Apprenticeships in Childcare and as Teaching Assistants normally take between 12 and 18 months to complete. They comprise:

  • The main aim (the childcare or T.A. qualification)
  • Training in Employment rights and responsibilities
  • Personal learning and thinking skills
  • Functional skills: Maths, English and ICT (if not exempt by GCSE)
  • 'On the job' and 'off the job' training

We welcome approaches from both potential apprentices and employers. Information on funding and wage subsidies can be found here.
