This qualification is the direct replacement for the Children's Care, Learning & Devlopment NVQ Level 4, which is being phased out. The new level 5 has 2 pathways that are appropriate to the Early Years Sector;

The Children & Young People’s Advanced Practitioner Pathway

The aim of the Children and Young People’s Advanced Practice pathway is to guide and assess the knowledge and skills relating to the Children and Young People’s senior workforce. If you work in the sector in a senior role and are looking to develop your career possibly into management within the broader context of the Children & Young People’s sector this could be the ideal qualification for you. Advanced Practice pathways are geared towards senior practitioners who would like to develop their career but wish to remain active practitioners within the management framework.

The Children & Young People’s Management Pathway

The aim of the Children and Young People’s Management pathway is to guide and assess the knowledge and skills relating to the Children and Young People’s senior workforce. If you work in the sector in a managerial role this is the ideal qualification for you. You may be  looking to develop your career in management, possibly within the broader context of the sector. Management pathways are most suitable for Assistant Managers and Deputy Managers who are looking to progress their career. It is also appropriate for Managers who have not yet achieved a vocational qualification at this level.

Qualification Structure

All learners must achieve a total of 80 credits to complete the qualification.

To achieve the qualification through this pathway, learners will need to achieve:

     20 credits from the group A core mandatory

     38 credits for group C units (below)

     22 credits from appropriate optional units, dependent on current role and guidance from assessor

•    34 credits from appropriate optional units, dependent on current role and guidance from assessor.

Course costs and timescales

You will work at a pace that suits your needs and obligations but generally we would anticipate you completing within approximately 18 months. The course costs £2195 but fullor part funding may be available via your local authority or via GLF funding to your setting. Please ask us for details.
