Work and interact directly with children on a day-to-day basis supporting the planning of and delivery of activities.

The broad purpose of the occupation is to work and interact directly with children on a day-to-day basis supporting the planning of and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes. An EYP works as part of a professional team ensuring the welfare and care for children.

What is included in the Level 2 Apprenticeship Diploma?

In order to move through the gateway to End Point Assessment for your apprenticeship you must first complete the following elements.

1. English – Functional Skills level 1 or GCSE grade 1 or above
2. Maths – Functional skills level 1 or GCSE grade 1 or above
3. Meet the requirements for knowledge, skills, and behaviours.
4. Employer statement (see below)
5. Portfolio of evidence for the Professional Discussion (including CPD log, Employer Observations and Employer Review)
6. Meet the required off the job hours.

Full achievement of the qualification will not be possible until all components are complete.

Employer Statement

The End Point Assessment can only start once the employer is satisfied that the apprentice is consistently working at or above the level set out in the occupational standard, the employer may take advice from the apprentice’s training provider, but the decision must ultimately be made solely by the employer.

End Point Assessment is then carried out by an independent assessor and will consist of;

1. A professional discussion based on a portfolio of evidence
2. An observation of practice
