Entry Requirements for assessing in Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning

Learners wishing to undertake tutor or assessor training will need to be qualified and experienced in child development and education to at least level 3. Learners will need to be working with or have access to a minimum of two learners working towards either of the following:

• The Level 2 or 3 Certificate or Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching & Learning
• The Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (EYE) or the Level 2 Diploma for the Early Year Practitioner

(It may be possible to arrange for learners through First Avenue Training).

The courses consist of an individual or group taught session to get learners started then several hours of one-one support and observation. There are no exams, however learners will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence showing their competency, knowledge and understanding of the subject. This will include results of their practice in assessing.

Entry Requirements – Non Childcare / T.A

Candidates from other subject areas can only be accommodated if they are able to provide access to their own candidates and a qualified workplace mentor. In practice this generally means working for another Training Organisation or College.
